Vacation Bible School

We had a great VBS week as we learned about Paul, Peter and John, Jesus and
church unity. The underlying message was that God’s power is enough to pull us through any situation in life. Each night, we kicked off VBS by enjoying a home-cooked meal served right out of our own kitchen. Our crafts and music centered around our Rocky Railway theme. Not only did we have recreation outside, but the majority of all the activities (thanks to good weather) were held outdoors!
We enrolled 36 children in VBS. We averaged 30 children each night, 12 adults in our adult class, and we averaged 24 workers for a total average attendance of 66. We had our “age old” boys vs. girls offering competition and raised over $1,500 for the NC Baptist Children’s Homes. Our youth made several dozen pillows which will be delivered to the Baptist Children’s Home in Thomasville later this year for Christmas gifts for the children. We are also sponsoring a “Summer Sock” Drive to assist with missionary work in Columbia, South America, by helping Venezuelan refugees who are walking countless miles as they flee for safety to the Columbia border. The flyers and envelopes are in the narthex, and we will collect money through July 11th. We are so thankful for all those who gave of their time to serve as volunteers. Without their support, our VBS would not have been successful.
Special thanks to our church for providing the funds to support VBS. Last year we were
unable to have VBS due to COVID restrictions. This year, we were able to meet
and share the gospel of Jesus Christ with children in our community. God delivered and demonstrated His power during our VBS week!
